About the TUTORO
Everyone knows a chain and sprocket set will last longer if you keep it well maintained, but not everyone wants to go to expense and trouble of fitting an automatic oiler that connects to the bikes vacuum or electrical system.
The "Tutoro" (Top Up Turn On Ride Off) is a simple, easy to fit, low cost solution.
There's no wiring to do nor any connections to any of the bike's systems, simply decide where you want to mount it and route the oil delivery pipe to the chain.
The simple to use “Flow Valve” lets you adjust the rate of oil delivery from a quick flow to "maintain" the chain all the way through to a drop or two a minute for long distance touring whilst a quick glance at the clear reservoir tube lets you know if its time to refill.
The flow valve lets you make the right choice in relation to speed of oil delivery whatever the weather or road conditions remember if its raining, your chain will benefit from a higher level of lubrication.
Everything you need is included in the kit, the only thing you need is oil.
TUTORO Tutorial
This section is designed to show exactly how the product works and how to mount it on a bike for use. The diagram above is a basic interpretation of the product, and highlights its key features.
At the top of the product is a removable cap, which can be taken off to allow the user to access the fluid reservoir tube. This is where the user would top up the lubricating fluid.
The next key feature is the Flow control valve. This acts as both the ‘On/OFF’ switch (much in the same way as the faucet on a tap) and regulator of the flow of fluid.
At the bottom of the device are a pair of fixing lugs, which are designed to enable the user to fix the product onto their bike. Using the cable ties provided, the user can affix the product onto the bikes frame using both these lugs, and a secondary tie around the base of the fluid reservoir tube.
The last feature is the delivery tube, which is fed down to the bikes chain (affixed by more cable ties) and is left hanging directly above the chain. The user also has the added advantage of up to 40 mm of lateral adjustment, provided by a small delivery nozzle. Once the Flow control valve is turned as to allow lubricator to flow, the fluid travels down the tube and eventually drips onto the chain. This successfully lubricates the entire chain once the bike is in motion.
The Tutoro is designed and built in the UK by Bikers, for Bikers
The TUTORO holds around 8 ml of oil which might not sound like much but in a recent bench test a unit was set up to drip at the recommended rate of one drop per minute, the unit continued to dispense oil for over five hours!.
However should you forget to turn the unit off such a small quantity of oil is spilled it’s hardly a matter for concern.
Recommended oil - the TUTORO will happily dispense almost any oil but most people use either std 10/40 or 20/50.
However specifically formulated chain oil is best.
